Straight up. How the fuck are kids growing up gonna find contentment. Everywhere they look it’s designer bags, daft fucking cars and rap star wealth flaunted on social media.
It ain’t fucking sustainable nor a true indicator of what most people will achieve.
It’s like we setting up the next generation to fail by drowning in discontentment.
Girls in real life don’t look like that without filters.
You really can’t sign up for a dickhead expensive training course that you see on your timeline and make £100,000 in the next year.
Well you can if you want to stripe people up selling dickhead courses by convincing them they too can make £100,000.
Take it from me as a nearly 50 year old man.
We all love daft cars and stuff. And escapism that scroll, scroll, scroll offers… certainly from the challenging last 18 months.
There does come a point when you spend so much time escaping from the life you currently lead, that it creates discomfort, discontent and discombobulation.
This is what I seeing along my travels.
The real world is emptying bins, forgetting your carrier bags when you go to Tesco/Lidl/Waitrose, loading the dishwasher.
Trying to emulate success that you see on social media is the absolute road to unhappiness.
I’m nearly 50.
I finally have a daft car.
It’s epic fun.
For the first few months.
Then magically it just became a car.
One day I’ll be dead.
So will you.
So…
Have fun.
Be driven, be ambitious, but above all, be happy.
When your drive and ambition is causing you to be unhappy.
Maybe, just maybe, you’ve found your level.
One final thing…
I’ve seen so many people fall into what I call, The wealth trap, as they start moving up, they moving with people who are more successful, and richer and now at the very point way back that they should have feel success.
They start to feel inadequate, and the cycle of unhappiness, working to the get to the next level begins.
Again.
Why?
Fucking potty.
And I’m apparently the daft one with self limiting beliefs.
I may be daft, but I’m happy.
I’ve achieved way more than a thick Salford lad from a council estate could ever have dreamed of.
How much is enough?
Only you can answer that.
