In a world that often measures wealth by the numbers on a balance sheet, it’s soooo easy to feel overshadowed by the glitz and glamour of material affluence.
I’m on a 7 day cruise right now, so I’m hardly ‘Brad on benefits’ skint.
But on this boat there is Chanel shop this, Seiko shop that.
£7,000 for a bag.
£20,000 for a watch
That’s crackers.
I could never sensibly buy either.
Am I a failure?
The true wealth I have in my life isn’t on my balance sheet, or laying passively in a bank account or hanging on my wrist.
It’s the wealth of just being present.
Which in today's world of everything fighting for your attention is harder than it sounds.
You too can experience the intangible & ‘free’ treasures life offers.
While bank accounts may not always align with our Instagram aspirations, the true richness of life reveals itself in experiences, relationships, and moments of genuine connection.
You’ll know what I mean when I say laughter, heartfelt conversations and the joy of being with loved ones to do the things that one day we just won’t be able to do.
These are the treasures that no amount of money can buy.
Sounds a bit trite, like the kind of shiz you’d expect a motivational speaker to trot out.
I promise you any tears down the line you shed for a worn out handbag or scratched watch face will be tiny, compared to those we cry for those lost moments.
These moments that we just may currently take for granted or walk on by… but if you look today, you’ll find you have them, lots of them.
These when you clock, clock them, reminding us that being ‘rich’ goes beyond financial status, it’s about the relationships, experiences and ourselves to fill our lives with meaning.
By focusing on the richness of experiences, kindness, and the moments that TRULY matter, you can shift your perspective and rediscover the wealth that resides within us.
Which is exactly what I did.
Embracing this mindset allowed me a sensible way to mentally recalibrate and navigate out of a £2m pandemic collapsed business to bounce to a place where I am happy… happy.
Whilst others are stuck in a circular cycle of trying to get back to a time and place that no longer exists…
I’m happy AF to be in a place where I’m as busy as I want to be.
I love stuff, I got lots of it, but the stuff I really love isn’t stuff.
So go check your bank account…
You’re not the richest person in the world.
But then go check your world…
It’s a mindset, an appreciation for the beauty in your everyday life.
You my friend, are the richest person in the world.
You are the proof.
You are the statement.
