In the game of life, like the board game, 'Snakes and Ladders,' our journey often consists of ups and downs.
Those ladders that power us and our careers forward, like personal and professional victories, are rarely found by standing still, aggressively waiting for the phone to ring.
They're discovered by rolling the dice and stepping forward, embracing the risk & this is important, excitement that each roll presents.
The thought of rolling the dice, taking a chance, going for something can be daunting.
The fear of landing on a snake, the challenges you’ll face setbacks, and failures, can hold us back from taking that first step.
But the harsh reality is that the snakes of life will find us regardless.
They lurk in our inaction, feeding on our fears and complacency.
By not rolling the dice, we unknowingly expose ourselves to the serpents of stagnation.
Critics will always be there.
They stand on the sidelines, ready to scrutinise your every move, quick to point out when you've landed on a snake.
Some may offer advice, proclaiming, "If it was me... I'd do it this way."
But remember, it's not them.
It's you who holds the dice.
This is your game, your board / life to traverse.
You are the master of your destiny, the decider of your direction.
In the face of fear, uncertainty, and criticism, muster the courage to roll your dice.
Accept that snakes metaphorical and otherwise are part of your journey, but know that for every snake, there's a ladder waiting just around the corner.
You don’t need a double 6 to start.
BUT you do need to start.
One final piece of advice, if you can live with the absolute downside of a decision, you should probably go for it.
