Absolutely not true.
I remember talking in front of 12 people at a Brewers Fayre networking event in 2006 and being absolutely terrified.
More so than headlining and talking to 3,000+ accountants a decade or so later.
A newbie at gym struggling benchpressing 10kg is working as hard as grizzled bodybuilder maxing out 100kg.
Think logically.
It’s all relative.
Your ability to deal with failure and struggle is to accept this is an essential ingredient of success and will determine where you end up in all areas of your life.
If you want comfort in your life, you first have to have discomfort in your life.
If you want the nice things in your world, you have to endure and push through the not nice things first.
There was a time I’d bump into someone year on year at trade shows, they’d ask me how I got all my speaking gigs.
I’d tell them to speak as I did at networking events 100’s of times…
A year later i bumped into them at the same show, they’d ask the same question.
Rumour has it they still asking the same question and doing FA towards making it a reality.
There really is no way of skipping the bit you don’t like, in order to get to the bit you do.
An expert is someone who has made all the mistakes in a niche field and overcome all the discomfort.
If you choose not to lean in and accept that hardcore discomfort is all part of it.
Then all you are gonna feel for the remainder of your career and days is low level discomfort.
One pushes you forward, one keeps you where you are.
