The amazing Nic J. Sorrell her business is perfect, her life is perfect.👌🏻
A sub half-mill turnover business a handful of employees, she has a beautiful office, beautiful home, makes amazing money, and genuinely has a 10+ waiting list of clients.
She could absolutely take on more business and in doing so make more money, but doesn’t want any more!
Some may call her self limiting, you know what I call her.
Happy.
She has enough.
Everything.
In a world constantly bombarded with messages glorifying hyper material success, it’s easy to fall into the trap of success & numbers dysmorphia that our £50k, £100k, £250k is somehow underperforming or ‘failing’ Linked in is dominated with 7/8 figure business talk.
We’re led to believe that bigger businesses, grand achievements and the pursuit of endless possessions define success.
They don’t.
They really really don’t.
You want success, focus not on building a bigger business, but focus on what you have to do in order to build a better life.
And if that’s a bigger business.
So be it.
But one day, if you avoid numbers dysmorphia and what the world tells you should be and do.
You may find that happy and true success isn’t connected with ‘BIG business success’
You see, post pandemic, I’ve now made a deliberate choice, to cap my ambition.
My high score is no longer measured by material possessions or the scale of my enterprise.
We of course all want to provide for our family. Provide them time.
That’s what true success lies in providing for your family.
Time.
Perhaps, and this is what I landed on, what you truly need to focus on is not accumulating more ‘stuff’ but creating more time to spend with your loved ones.
Only you can decide what defines success in your life.
I firmly believe that the foundation of a fulfilling life and a thriving business is a strong and positive mindset. When you prioritise this, your mental well-being, it positively ripples into all aspects of your existence.
Create a business that serves you, rather than the other way around.
My days of running a £m+ business are well behind me.
Save your tears.
Could I build another one? Absolutely.
Like NJS, I could for myself, but I don’t want to.
I no longer have 10+ staff, but I do have a very comfortable lifestyle business, with enough complexity to enjoy and things to do daily to be challenged.
There’s about 6,000,000 business in UK.
How many Alan Sugars you reckon within that?
So if your aspirations are to be that, you statistically likely to fall short.
Great work Nicola, stay winning, stay smiling and of course stay with your beautiful, beautiful business & life.
