4Networking is celebrating its 12th birthday. TODAY ! As a celebration, each year, founder Brad Burton tours the country visiting as many meetings as possible in a week, meeting as many members as possible. I have had the privilege of joining him with this for the last two years. What a week it’s been! We set off for Telford on Sunday evening, driving through heavy snow! Ready to kick off the tour at 4N Telford breakfast.
We then had two hours to get to Sheffield for lunch (If you’ve ever travelled in Brad’s car, you’ll know why its pseudonym is the ‘ teleporter’ )… where Yiannis Triplis made Brads day by using his 4N passport to attend the meeting over 200 miles away from his home to come and see him!
Then up to Spalding for an evening meeting, with a beautiful cake arranged by Taz Thornton and Asha Clearwater Three fantastic meetings, all great locations; the last one was held in a bookshop so Brad even managed to get some holiday souvenirs for the family!
Day two saw us in Gainsborough , Sleaford (with Sheena Wyatt racing us from one to the next!) and Tamworth , where we ended the day in a SnowDome…
Wednesday came and, with just two meetings, it seemed an absolute doddle! Macclesfield , which was the biggest meet of the week, beautifully held together by Group Leader Sian Roswell , and Heswall, where the ever so happy Jo Happiness Howarth had some pre-made pancakes waiting for us as we had missed out on pancake day! A quick visit to our friends at Whitfield Business Support in the Wirral to make exciting plans for the next NWL which will be happening in Liverpool on 12th May! The longest part of this day was getting the press photography shots right, as Brad the diva insisted on take after take, to avoid him looking like
From there we “ferried ‘cross the Mersey” to the heart of Liverpool…for a pre-booked venue viewing. In one of the most prestigious buildings in Liverpool. Overlooking the sea. With a balcony. Oh yes!
We even had time for a quick snap with these guys (What the picture doesn’t show is how wet, cold and windy it actually was there!)
Then a long old drive to Stratford Upon Avon , driving at 70 mph all the way there, with a little added adventure due to the wing mirror falling out!
Staying at the hotel that hosted the 4n meeting rocked, literally rolling out of bed to the meeting on Thursday morning, hosting 4N royalty in the shape of Jason Dutton, Terry Cooper
AND Michael Nagles!
Then driving home… HOME
! We both had weekend vibes about us at the thought of seeing family! After a great nights sleep at home, back up and at ‘em early Friday morning for the tenth and final meeting of the tour in Exeter
!
Whilst the tour officially ended in Exeter, we had booked in to go and speak for the amazing guys at the PopUp Business School i n Taunton on Friday afternoon. These people do an amazing job, providing the highest level of support and training for mainly unemployed or early business owners.
What a week it’s been! People keep saying… “You must be shattered”… “Wow, bet it’s been tiring”
and my personal favourite “How have you coped with Brad for a whole week?”!!!
Surprisingly (And believe me, it came as a surprise to me!) It wasn’t anywhere near
as tiring as we expected. Ten meetings compared to the 12 last year seemed easy peasy
! And Brad? He’s really not that difficult to be around all the time… less drum’n’bass than you’d expect, but lots of giggles and silly chat!
It was actually a real privilege to be a part of this tour. In fact, it’s a real privilege to be a part of 4Networking . Meeting the members at the heart of this fantastic organisation. What Brad has created is really very special and seeing people I have only ever spoken to on the phone or by messenger over the past 12 months, whom I recognise only from their tiny little circle of a profile picture on facebook has been a wonderful treat! This network is incredibly special, because the members are incredibly special. They provide support and friendship to each other in a way that is truly unique, and I consider myself very lucky to be a part of it.
Met and spoke to 100’s. Remembering names, picking up with people where conversations were previously left… Let’s not forget the daily tasks, thinking, sleeping, eating, chatting, showering and dealing with incoming emails, notifications, calls.
